Dale Hlavin, President
Dale Hlavin’s passion for fundraising started in the 1970’s when he was a teacher and coach for 15 years. During that time, he was involved with many successful fundraising projects for his schools and teams, helping to raise over $1,000,000 in eight years. In the summer of 1989 he co-founded Markers, Inc., a business that developed markers for golf courses and athletic fields which featured a revolutionary “Hole and Pole” concept.
Then in 1997, Markers, Inc. introduced a modular 10’ flagpole set that featured the same “Hole and Pole” concept. The flagpole set became a hit among Rotary Clubs after 9/11 when they sold flag sponsorships to honor heroes of that tragedy, with profits benefitting the various charities that the rotary championed. From the ashes of that tragedy the Flags for Fundraising program was born, helping many charities, schools, sports programs, civic organizations, and other non-profits ever since. Meja Gillett, Executive Assistant
Meja Gillett’s 25+ year experience with Flags for Fundraising has given her the privilege of working with all types of terrific people and organizations. From answering product questions to arranging shipments, she is eager to assist our customers through the entire research, inquiry, and ordering processes. As Executive Assistant, Meja “wears many hats” including Sales and Service, Shipping and Receiving, Bids and Quotations, Accounts Payable and Receivable, and Purchasing.
Meja is passionate about Flags for Fundraising because she has many family members who have served in the military, and our program helps organizations raise funds while honoring American heroes. Her father was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Army for 21 years, and her father-in-law is an Army veteran as well. Plus, her brother-in-law served in the Navy, is currently in the Navy Reserves, and is a fire chief in Wisconsin. Dawn Mango, Customer Service Representative
Dawn Mango has been working with Flags for Fundraising since 2017. She specializes in customer relations and is very organized, helping our customers make sure their items are on hand for their next big event. She has a strong background in art and promotions, having worked previously for a small promotional company called Pride Signs after graduating from Westlake High School in 1996. She helped the company grow from making signs for high schools to doing customized promotional items of any kind. After selling the business to a local embroidery company, Dawn started working with them to help fulfill their customers needs.
She eventually moved on to Awesome Wares in Avon Lake for seven years before coming to Flags for Fundraising where she worked with local schools, police stations, car dealerships and some smaller businesses. This is where she learned different art programs to help with design signs, shirts, and everything in between. Please contact us if you would like to get to meet Dawn!
Steve Cropper, East Coast Flag Commander
If you are looking to raise funds, build community support, and increase public awareness, then you need to meet Steve Cropper! He has led over 250 clubs and organizations in 20 states to raise thousands of dollars annually with Flags for Fundraising campaigns. He is a retired Police Commander who holds life memberships in the International Association of Chiefs of Police and the Maryland Chiefs of Police Association. Steve has served locally as a volunteer Fireman, a Lion, a Rotarian, and church leader for many years. Active in fundraising and stewardship, he was a Charter member in building the Law Enforcement Wall in Washington D.C. His family has served in wars dating back to ancestor Revolution General John Cropper, is proud of his father a Tech/Sgt. in WWII and family members currently serving to protect our country.
